Learning to Drive

Created by Katrina 3 years ago

When I was 17 I started learning to drive. When I was 18 I still hadn't been able to pass my driving test, I found it too stressful.

Grandpa the ever patient man that he was took me out in the yellow peril (the cinquecento) and taught me to drive (not to pass my test) after 6 months of driving around with Grandpa I finally took my driving test and passed!

It is common practice after you pass your test to let your driving instructor drive the car home from the test centre. I asked Grandpa if he would drive home so that I could call people and tell them I had passed. I then asked Grandpa if I could  borrow the car for the rest of the day. When I asked him this, I had Grandma on loudspeaker in the car. Grandpa looked at me deadpan and said "Oh no sorry I need the car for the rest of the day" to which Grandma's voice came over the loudspeaker "You do NOT need the car and Katrina can have it for as long as she likes" Grandpa just looked at me and raised his eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders then threw back his head and laughed so loud. Needless to say, I got the car for the rest of the day. What a man. Laughing all the way to the finish line. Love him xxxxx
